The hotel is on a 32 hectares acre estate near the charming fishing village of Kizimkazi and along a km-long stretch of stunning coastline flanked by coconut palms. Eco-ID Architect and Design Consultancy was appointed to create a hotel inspired by the island’s history.
The interiors, by Hirsch Bedner Associates (Four Seasons Singapore, The Landmark London and The Grand Hyatt Bali), are influenced by the island’s history and Swahili, Omani, British and Indian influences.
66 villas each with its own swimming pool, private sun terrace, daybed, sun loungers and either a garden, or beach with ocean views.
The hotel’s star attraction is The Spa at The Residence Zanzibar. A jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, spa swimming pool, yoga studio and a range of fitness equipment. Frangipani is the signature scent for The Residence Zanzibar and a series of decorative objects throughout the hotel are scented.
